Roles & Responsibilities
For the 5 months of internship at APACMed, I worked as a marketing assistant, supporting the heads of events marketing, communications, and member engagement. My responsibilities included planning events, creating marketing collateral, and conducting marketing analytics. I frequently coordinated with hotel teams and collaborated closely with designers throughout my time at the association. Below is a gallery of my day-to-day job as a marketing assistant.
Events
During my time at APACMed, I have successfully planned numerous events, including flagship events, networking sessions, and strategy meetings both locally and internationally. I collaborated with hotel coordinators to secure venues, engaged food and beverage (F&B) caterers for catering needs, coordinated with audiovisual (AV) agencies for technical setups, and worked with freelance designers on marketing collateral. Below is a gallery showcasing the events I was involved in planning.
Contributions to APACMed
In preparation for our annual flagship event, MedTech Forum 2024, I created a statistical analysis process in Microsoft Excel to summarize our registration data. The process utilized functions such as VLOOKUP, Advanced Filtering, Conditional Formatting, and Pivot Tables. Before my departure, I designed a start-up engagement pitch deck on Canva for the Member Engagement Manager, offering start-ups an overview of our company and a preview of upcoming events in 2025.

A brief summary of what I have learnt
Event Coordination Skills
Through my experiences planning multiple events, I realized the extensive coordination necessary for their smooth execution. I honed my attention to detail by managing even the smallest aspects, such as seating arrangements, dietary restrictions, and audiovisual equipment. I enhanced my communication skills by effectively synchronizing activities and resources among various stakeholders. Additionally, I strengthened my adaptability, as I learned to navigate shifting decisions, fluctuating budgets, and tight deadlines.
Content Creation Skills
Through the numerous social media posts and direct emails I created, I developed my language skills and creativity by crafting informative, concise, and compelling captions. I also sharpened my attention to detail by meticulously vetting visuals created by our freelance designers and ensuring that synopses were free of grammatical mistakes and spelling errors. As someone without a background in copywriting, I am happy to have acquired this valuable new skill.
Task Prioritisation Skills
Working in a small company like APACMed has exposed me to a larger and more diverse workload than I might find in a larger organization. Over the past five months, I have mastered the art of task prioritization. I developed the habit of organizing my daily tasks into a concise to-do list, ranking them from most to least urgent. This approach has made me more efficient at work and significantly enhanced my ability to multitask effectively.
