Internships

My internship experiences have been instrumental in shaping my professional and personal development, providing me with valuable insights and practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. These opportunities allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice

APACMed Internship

During my gap year after graduating from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I worked as a marketing assistant for 5 months at Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed). APACMed is a non-profit organization that facilitates collaboration among key players in the MedTech industry. I assisted the manager of Events Marketing, in planning events, creating social posts, and performing analytics. Through this experience, I developed a wide range of essential soft skills that are not only applicable to the MedTech industry but also transferable across various sectors worldwide.

A*STAR Internship

To fulfill my requirements for the A*STAR Science Award 2023, I worked as a research assistant for 5 months at A*STAR's Institute of Molecular & Cell Biology (IMCB). A*STAR is one of  Singapore's top research institutes. I worked under Caroline Wee's Lab and assisted in researching the effects of neuromodulators such as AGRP and POMC on feeding and energy expenditure. I have picked up many lab skills and learnt how to handle the zebrafish animal model. I also gained a better understanding of the life sciences industry and met multiple respectable professors.

B.Braun Internship

​As part of my Year 3 Internship Programme at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I worked as an engineering assistant for 6 months at B.Braun Singapore Pte. Ltd. B.Braun is the world's leading medical technology company. I worked under the company's Automated Infusion System (AIS) division to perform preventive maintenance, conduct repairs and handle paperwork on infusion and syringe pumps. I have gained many technical skills, soft skills, and valuable lessons that cannot be taught in school. I also gained a good insight into the biomedical industry and met many like-minded engineering professionals.
