Engineering Projects

During my 3 years in Ngee Ann Biomedical Engineering, I have completed various engineering projects that tackle real-world challenges. Each project has deepened my understanding of engineering principles and shaped my approach to problem-solving.

Integrated Real World Project 4

As part of our IRP4 Project, my team created a sleep tracking device from scratch called DreamSense. We made use of hardware components such as the ESP32C3, MPU6050, and PPG sensor. We also made use of software applications such as the Arduino IDE to program the microcontroller, MIT App Inventor to create the app's user interface, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store the sensors' data. I coded the microcontroller in Arduino programming language and the website in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Internet of Things

As part of my IoT module, my team created a Smart Home. We made use of hardware components such as the ESP32, WiFi router, Ultrasonic Sensor and DHT11 Temperature Sensor. We also made use of software applications such as the Arduino IDE to program the microcontroller, MQTT app to connect the sensors via an MQTT broker and Amazon Web Services to store the sensors' data. I coded the microcontroller in Arduino programming language and the website in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Embedded Systems

As part of my EDSS module, I created a tray return robot simulation on TinkerCad. I made use of hardware components such as the ATMEGA328, Buzzers, Servo Motor, LCD and Ultrasonic Sensors. Everything was coded in low-level C programming.

Integrated Real World Project 2

As part of my IRP2 module, I made use of Altium Designer to create a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) that mimics the function of a regular Plethysmogram (PPG). I went through multiple trials and errors, trying different component arrangements to create the most compact PCB.
